I always thought that suicides were more likely in the winter, when it’s dark and cold. But a report in USA Today says just the opposite: That most suicides happen during July and August. Why would summer be more depressing than other seasons? Or does the time of year even matter when you’re depressed?

So there's this new genre of country music called "alternative country". It's got your standard country sound, but it's less "pop" and the lyrics are darker, bleaker and sometimes downright depressing. This music totally speaks to a lot of people, but it's not for everyone. What music really hits you hard, either bringing you down or picking you up?

We are conditioned to think medicine cures illnesses. When you catch a cold, you go to the store and get some Nyquil. If you have a headache, you take an aspirin. But now they have a pill to treat stuff like shyness. Seriously. What about legit mental illnesses, like depression and anxiety…can a pill help you get through that?

Screen your head

A bunch of local colleges, including the University of Wyoming, are conducting screenings for depression and anxiety throughout the state. The screenings are 100% confidential and not mandatory; Counselors are strongly encouraging students and staff to participate. Has anyone joined in on one of these screenings? Is this kind of thing helpful or a waste of time?

Depression, isolation, exclusions, frustration, guns, drugs booze. What up?

Tourism is the #2 industry in Wyoming—tons of people come to this state every year because it’s uncrowded, open, and full of beautiful landscape.

But what happens to the people who have to wake up every day to life in Wyoming. What is it about this place that hits young male adults between 15 and 24 so hard that they pick up a gun, put it to their head and pull the trigger to get away from it?

You don’t need all the answers to help. Lets start with an opinion.
